Worship liberates one from the chain of births and re-births. Constructing a temple is like performing a Yagna. Even more so, renovating one is equivalent to performing "ASWAMEDHA YAGNA" by doing so, one's family is blessed for 21 generations, says the Scriptures. Our great Paramacharya of Kanchi always advise the devotees to renovate and perform Kumbabishekam of old temples rather than constructing new temples.

River Kusathalai originates from Tirutani, flows through Manavur and merges into Bay of Bengal. The great saint Agasthiar and his disciples did Shiva Pooja and installed various Sivalingams along the bank of kusasthalai river. In most of these temples sivalingam was installed facing east and Ambal facing south.

An ancient shiva temple located at Elambakkam about 12 Kms on Sunguvarchatram to Mapedu route in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu. The main deity of the temple is Lord Mrithunjayar facing east and Goddess Sribaalambigai facing south. Generally Aavudayar is in round shape whereas in this temple it is square shape which according to Agama is Rishi Pradhishtai. The temple’s vimana had been built in Gajaprashta shape.
 
Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is a great mantra for conquering death, for it protects against all threats and at the time of death eases the process of release. It is one of the more potent ancient mantras, a call for enlightenment and a practice of purifying karmas of the soul at a deep level. It is beneficial for mental, emotional and physical health. It is also the moksha mantra which bestows longevity and immortality.

According to puranas, Mahamrityunjaya Mantra has been used by many Rishis as well as Sati during the time when Chandra suffered from the curse of Prajapati Daksha. By reciting this mantra, the effect of Daksha could make him die, slowed and Shiva then took Chandra and placed it upon his head.
 
This mantra is addressed to Lord Shiva for warding off untimely death. It is also chanted while smearing Vibhuti over various parts of the body and utilized in Japa or Homa to get desired results. While its energy protects and guides, the mantra re-links consciousness to its deeper and more abiding nature. Continuous chanting of this mantra constitutes Japa, the practice which develops concentration that leads to a transformation of awareness.

 Ambal balambigai means she is mother and also in the form of a child BALA THIRUPURSUNDARI. In this temple ambal has chathurpujam and in standing posture, with akasharamala in her right and lotus flower in her left hand.

Pattam Shri Halasianatha Sivachariar, chief Priest of Lord Annamalaiar Temple, Tiruvannamalai has kindly accepted to perform Kumbhabheshegam on 2nd May 2013. Around 12 Sivachariar’s are going to perform yagasala pooja for 4 kalams spread across 3 days.

The work in connection with renovation of Elambakkam temple are in the final stages.

In koshtam 1. Nardhana Ganapathi, 2. Lord Dakshinamurthy, 3. Vishnu, 4. Brahma, 5. Vishnu Durgai are to be installed in north east. Navagraha Sannadhi, Nandi Mandapam and also Sannidhi for Kalabhairavar and Chandikeswarar are to be constructed.

பெருமதிப்புடயீர்,  நமஸ்காரம்.

நாங்கள் காஞ்சி மகாஸ்வாமிகள் கூறியபடி சிதலமடைந்துள்ள கோவில்களை திருப்பணி செய்து கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்து வருகிறோம்.

இதுவரை கீழ்கண்ட 9 பழமையான சிவாலயத்தை புனருத்ரானம் செய்து கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்துள்ளோம்.

1. மூக்கனூர் (திருவண்ணமலையில் இருந்து 35 கி.மீ. தூரத்தில் உள்ளது). சுமார் ஆயிரம் வருடம் தொன்மை வாய்ந்த இந்த சிவாலயம் முசுகுந்த சக்ரவர்த்தியால் கட்டப்பட்டதாக வரலாறு கூறுகிறது. பாண்டவர்கள் வனவாச காலத்தில் ஸ்ரீ சிவகாமி சமேத தாண்டவநேஸ்வரரை பூஜித்து மன அமைதி பெற்றதாக வரலாறு கூறுகிறது. 
2. மண்ணூர் (பூந்தமல்லியிலிருந்து 12 கி.மீ. தொலைவில் உள்ளது) 
3. நெமிலி (ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரிலிருந்து 3 கி. மீ. தூரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது) 
4. பாக்கம் (திருவண்ணமலையில் இருந்து 35 கி.மீ தூரத்தில் உள்ளது) 
5. கண்ணூர்-அரைவாக்கம் (சுங்குவார்சத்திரம்-மப்பேடு செல்லும் சாலையில் உள்ளது) 
6. அருள்மிகு அபிதகுசாம்பாள் சமேத அருணாச்சலேஸ்வரர், வெண்மணி-போளூர் அருகில் உள்ளது. 
7. அருள்மிகு சேஷபுரீஸ்வரர் திருகோயில், சேஷமூலை - திருநள்ளாறு அருகில். 
8. அருள்மிகு மாகளநாதர், அம்பர் மாகாளம் - காரைக்கால் அருகில் உள்ளது. (கும்பாபிஷேகம்-யாகசாலை) 
9. அருள்மிகு ஆனந்தவல்லி சமேத திருநந்தீஸ்வரர், மணவூர் - சென்னை - அரக்கோணம் மார்கத்தில் உள்ளது.

இந்த வரிசையில் பத்தாவதாக ஏலம்பாக்கம் என்ற க்ஷேத்ரத்தில் உள்ள பழமையான சிவாலயத்தை கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்ய உள்ளோம். இந்த ஊர் சுங்குவார்சத்திரம் - மப்பேடு செல்லும் வழியிலிருந்து 12 கி.மீ. தொலைவிலும், மப்பேட்டில் இருந்து 10 கி.மீ தொலைவிலும் உள்ளது.

இறைவன் சந்நிதி கிழக்கு நோக்கியும், அம்பாள் தெற்கு நோக்கியும் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பொதுவாக ஆவுடையார் பாணலிங்கத்தை சுற்றி வட்ட வடிவிலே அமைத்திருக்கின்றனர். ஆவுடையார் என்பது சக்தியை குறிக்கும். இக்கோவில் ஆவுடையார் சதுர வடிவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. ஆவுடையார் சதுரமாக அமைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதால் இந்த சிவலிங்கத்தை ரிஷி பிரதிஷ்ட்டையாக ஆகமங்கள் கூறுகின்றன. இந்த ஆலய விமானம் கஜப்பிரஷ்ட வடிவில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

சதுர வடிவ ஆவுடையார்  பாணலிங்கதிற்கு அமைந்திருப்பது மிகவும் அபூர்வமாகும். திருத்தணி அருகே ஊற்றெடுத்து திருவள்ளூர்-பொன்னேரி வழியாக வங்கக்கடலில் கலக்கும் குசஸ்தலை ஆற்றோரம் நூற்றுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட சிவாலயங்கள் பிரதிஷ்டிக்கப்படுள்ளன. குசமாகிய தர்பையிலிருந்து இந்த நதி உருவானதால் குசஸ்தலை என்று விளங்கப்பெருகின்றது. இந்த ஆற்றின் இரு புறமும் அகஸ்தியரால் அமைத்து, வழிபடப்பெற்ற சிவாலயங்கள் என்பதால், அகத்தீஸ்வரம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. இத்தகைய ஆலயங்களில் கர்பக்ரஹத்தில் சதுர வடிவ ஆவுடையாருடன் பாணலிங்கம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இத்தலத்திற்கு அருகே அமைந்துள்ள சிவத்தலங்கள்

1. கண்ணூர் - இறைவன் - ஸ்ரீமுகேஸ்வரர், அம்பாள் - ஸ்ரீமரகதாம்பிகை. கண்ணுவ முனிவர் வழிபட்ட திருத்தலம். 
2. கூவம் - இறைவன் - தீண்டாத்திருமேனி திருவிற்கோல நாதர், அம்பாள் - திரிபுரசுந்தரி, ஸ்தலவிருட்சம் - வில்வம், தீர்த்தம் - அக்னி தீர்த்தம். திருஞானசம்பந்தரால் பாடல் பெற்ற ஸ்தலம். 
3. மப்பேடு - இறைவன் - சிங்கீஸ்வரர், அம்பாள் - ஸ்ரீ புஷ்பகுஜம்பாள். 
4. இலம்பயங்கோட்டூர், சுவாமி - அரம்பேசாம்நாதர், அம்பாள் - கனக குசலாம்பிகை. திருஞானசம்பந்தரால் பாடல் பெற்ற ஸ்தலம். 
5. திருப்பாச்சூர், இறைவன் - பாசூர்நாதர், அம்பாள் - பசுபதி நாயகி, திருநாவுக்கரசரால் பாடல் பெற்ற ஸ்தலம். 
6. பேரம்பாக்கம், இறைவன் - காசி விஸ்வநாதர்

இத்திருகோவில் சிதலமடைந்திருந்தது. தற்போது அதை புனரமைக்கும் பணிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. இச்சிவாலயத்தில் இன்னும் கீழ்கண்ட திருப்பணிகள் நடைபெற வேண்டியுள்ளது.

• அம்மன் சன்னதியிலும், சிவன் சன்னதியிலும் தரை போட வேண்டும்.
• சுவற்றில் கல் பதிக்க வேண்டும் (கர்பக்ரஹம் , அர்த்த மண்டபம்)
• கோவிலுக்கு முன்பாக தரை போட வேண்டும் 
• கோவிலை சுற்றி வர நடை பதை அமைக்க வேண்டும் 
• கோவிலுக்கு நீர் வரத்து அமைக்க வேண்டும் 

 இக்கோவிலின் கும்பாபிஷேகத்தை பட்டம் ஸ்ரீ ஹாலஸ்யநாத சிவாச்சாரியார், தலைமை அர்ச்சகர், அண்ணாமலையார் தேவஸ்தானம், திருவண்ணாமலை அவர்கள் நடத்தித்தர இசைந்துள்ளார். 

இத்திருகொயிலின் கும்பாபிஷேகம் வரும் ஆண்டு மே மாதம் 2-ம் தேதி நடைபெற உள்ளது. கும்பாபிஷேகத்தில் 7 ஹோமகுண்டங்கள் அமைத்து 12 சிவாச்சாரியார்களுடன் நான்கு கால யாகசாலை பூஜை நடைபெற உள்ளது.

சிவாலய திருப்பணி மற்றும் கும்பாபிஷேகம் செய்வது என்பது அஸ்வமேத யாகம் செய்வதற்கு ஒப்பாகும். பிறவியின் பயன், இறைவனை உணர்ந்து, இனி ஒரு பிறவி இல்லாமல் இருக்க செய்வது தான். அத்தகைய உயர் பலனை அடைய இறைவன் நம்மக்கு ஒரு வாய்ப்பு அளித்துள்ளார். மேலும் பரமாச்சாரியார் புதியதாக கோவில்களை கட்டுவதைவிட பழைய ஆலயங்களை புதுப்பிப்பது என்பது மிகவும் உயர்வானது என்று கூறுவார். அத்தகைய திருப்பணிகளை செய்பவர்களின் தலைமுறைகள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவதாக சான்றோர்கள் கூறுவர் .

எனவே, சிறுதுளி பெருவெள்ளம் என்று கூறுவது போல இந்த எலம்பக்கத்தின் கும்பபிஷேகத்திற்கோ அல்லது ஆலய திருப்பணிக்கோ பொருளதவி செய்து எல்லாம் வல்ல இறைவனின் அருள்பெற வேண்டுகிறோம்.
